Simple actions for the environment
2008 Environment Awards

Attention FragÎles needs your participation for this year's edition of the Meritas Environnementaux, the Environnement Awards.

We want to know your opinion on who among the Islands' youth, adults and organizations could receive such an award. With this year's focus on "simple actions for the environment", think of the simple actions that have been done in the past year that really made a difference for the islands' environment.

Four awards will be presented, one for each of the following categories :

Achievements - Schools (primary, secondary, CÉGEP and adults)
Achievements - Youths (individual or groups under 30)
Achievements - Adults (30 and up)
Business / organisational achievements

Any of the Islands' individuals, businesses and organisations may submit their choice of candidates and be nominated as well.

To submit your choice of candidates, fill-in the following form and send it to us by mail, fax or email. Forms are also available from the Municipality of Grosse-Île, CEDEC or CAMI, at your Caisse Desjardins, at the COOP or in pharmacies, as well as from our website, www.attentionfragiles.org.

Deadline for submissions is October 17th. Good luck !

The Organization

Who is Attention FragÎles?

Attention FragÎles is an non-profit organization founded in 1988 under the name Mouvement pour la valorisation du patrimoine naturel des Îles-de-la-Madeleine inc. [movement for the appreciation of the natural heritage of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine]. The group formed from the desire to unite local efforts to protect and promote the natural heritage of the archipelago.

The organization operates thanks to the volunteer efforts of it Board of Directors and many other members, and the work of its employees.

Our mission

Appreciate and protect the natural heritage of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, particularly animal and plant species and their habitats, and inform residents and visitors of this heritage through information, education and protection actions and the promotion of behaviour that is respectful towards nature.

Our vision

Attention FragÎles is a player in the sustainable development of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine which strives to assure a quality environment for present and future generations and preserve the biodiversity of the natural heritage of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

Our main objectives

Promote the preservation and appreciation of our natural heritage;
Inform and educate the public about environmental realities and issues;
Participate in finding alternatives to activities that harm the environment, and propose various solutions to these problems;
Give rise to and support research and intervention work in natural settings, and participate in such work.
